Memoir of a war within a war.

1920-1948 the British Mandate of Palestine was in a unique position.  British,

Palestinian, Jewish, and Arab Police worked together.

Terrorism was rife, communal violence and political uncertainty were paramount while WWII fanned the flames.

With this backcloth, Anna’s personal experience begins.  A refugee story, still current today. Her naivety meant she didn’t realise her dangers or how her migrations would trailblaze her down a path to equality, feminism, adventure, and romance.

Robert is the heroic force.  A member of the police, from humble beginnings in Hackney to heroism in Palestine.  A man's man, relentless go-getter.  A strong loyal chivalrous protector of all around, especially Anna.
